Crossover SUV Interior
Both the Mazda CX-30 and the Subaru Crosstrek seat up to five passengers across two rows.
Behind the second row, the Subaru Crosstrek provides 19.9 cubic feet of cargo space, and the Mazda CX-30 provides 20.2 cubic feet, offering more storage for groceries, backpacks, sports equipment, or other trunk items.
There’s a WiFi hotspot standard on the Mazda crossover SUV as well as a standard onboard hands-free communications system. Subaru doesn’t provide these technology features.
When it comes to entertainment, the CX-30 features a standard six-speaker audio system with Mazda harmonic acoustics and the Mazda Connect™ infotainment system with an 8.8-inch center display. The Crosstrek has a standard four-speaker audio system and the Subaru Starlink® Dual 7-inch multimedia screen.
Crossover SUV Performance
The base trim of the Mazda CX-30 runs on a 191-hp SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine. The G-Vectoring Control Plus provides precise shifting for a smoother drive. All trims of this crossover SUV come standard with i-ACTIV AWD® (all-wheel drive) with off-road traction assist.
Higher Mazda CX-30 trims, starting with the 2.5 Carbon Turbo, are equipped with a more powerful 250-hp SKYACTIV®-G 2.5 dynamic pressure turbo engine.
A 152-hp 2-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine powers the Subaru Crosstrek, but higher trims don’t offer an upgraded engine option. AWD is also standard on this SUV but doesn’t feature i-ACTIV technology.
Crossover SUV Safety
The 2024 Mazda CX-30 received a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
Top Safety Pick+. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek also received a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick but it doesn’t have the + designation.
Both crossover SUVs have adaptive cruise control but only the Mazda SUV has parking assistance. The Mazda crossover SUV has more standard vehicle safety features than the Subaru, including blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and driver attention alert.
